Bio

Abby McCarthy is an NYC-based singer-songwriter hailing from Bangor, Maine.  Her sound walks the line between bootleg pop and indie rock. Her work is most heavily punctuated by catchy hooks, gritty riffs, and poignant storytelling. She grew up listening to other songwriter greats like Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Brandi Carlile, Sara Bareilles, Billy Joel, Ingrid Michaelson, and Taylor Swift.

Abby is a multi-instrumentalist who was primarily trained in piano. However,  growing up, she often found herself playing bass for her friends’ bands in back rooms and basements. At the age of 18, she scripted, composed, and choreographed a full length musical, which was not only performed at her high school, but also at two local professional theatres in celebration of Pride.   Abby majored in Studio Composition at SUNY Purchase, which churned out notables like Regina Spektor and Mitski.

Abby released her debut EP, "Ready or Not . . .", in May of 2018. In 2020, she released three singles, produced during the pandemic, which are AVAILABLE NOW HERE. She is currently in the studio working on her next EP, “Sad Indie Boy”.
